The current legal, public policy, social and discursive context within which lesbian women who are mothers live contains elements that denigrate and discriminate against lesbian women and their families; these negative elements frequently have a negative impact on lesbian women's psychosocial health and well-being, and effect decisions made about family, and the experience of day to day life.
