Building sensitivity to LGBT clients accessing alcohol and drug care - An online training module for healthcare providers.

This online training module is intended for any healthcare worker who would like to increase their skills and knowledge regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender clients in order to become more sensitive to their specific needs. It focuses on issues of heterosexism, homophobia, biphobia and transphobia, as well as key influences on alcohol and drug use amongst LGBT people.

There are several sections that can be done in sequence, or participants can do particular sections only.

The module has been developed by a team of researchers, clinicians and educators from the University of Melbourne, GLHV@ARCSHS (Gay and Lesbian Health Victoria), Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Service, and Deakin University. It was funded by a research grant from beyondblue.
